The Story of S+S

Sarah and Spencer first met in the summer of 2019 when Sarah’s USC friend group and Spencer’s high school crew began merging, thanks to their mutual Pasadena friends, Avery Barth and Brock Hudnut. A chance run-in in Santa Monica—where Spencer was particularly charming—caught Sarah’s attention. Over the next few months, they bumped into each other at various events around LA. Each interaction brought them closer, leading up to September 21, 2019.

That night, Spencer was hosting a housewarming party at his new (didn’t look that way) Westwood apartment and invited Sarah. By this point, both had developed a big crush on each other. With some matchmaking assistance from friends Dave McColl and Lolo Frager, the evening ended with Spencer and Sarah sharing their first kiss.

The next week, they went on their first official date. A few weeks after that, they were boyfriend and girlfriend. And before Christmas, they shared those magic three words with one another. Everything was falling into place as they enjoyed life in Los Angeles in their early twenties. But in 2020, COVID had other plans. Just five months into dating, Sarah and Spencer unexpectedly found themselves living together — with Spencer’s parents.

Living under one roof during the lockdown rapidly deepened their bond, making it clear their relationship was built to last. By July 2020, still in the heart of quarantine, Sarah joined the Rogers family for her first summer in Sun Valley. During that trip, Sarah and Spencer first floated the idea of getting married there, in the same backyard where they’ll soon exchange vows.

Life eventually started to get back to normal. Ready for a new adventure, they relocated to New York City in January 2022, moving into their first place together — without supervision. Sharing a cozy 500-square-foot apartment brought them even closer to one another, both literally and figuratively.

Every summer, Sarah and Spencer made it a priority to return to Sun Valley, enjoying the mountain air with friends and family and creating even more memories. When Spencer proposed in May 2024 in Kansas City, it didn’t take long for them to decide where they wanted to celebrate their big day. Sun Valley was the obvious choice.

To Sarah and Spencer, Sun Valley is their happy place. There couldn’t be a more perfect setting to begin their next chapter together. They’re thrilled to share it with their closest family and friends, getting married exactly six years after their first kiss in that (not-so-charming) Westwood apartment.
